Highly collectible original US first pressing of folk-rock icon Tim Hardin's seminal 1971 album, Bird on a Wire, released via Columbia Records. This copy originates from the historical Columbia Records Pressing Plant in Pitman, New Jersey. Catalog: C 30551 Cover Art: features a stunning, moody visual direction. The overall album design was crafted by Ed Lee and Dana Nordhausen. The high-contrast black and white portrait on the front cover showcases Tim Hardin in a wide-brimmed fedora and was photographed by Ed Freeman. The package is rounded out with a back cover photo by Barry Wallenstein and an intimate inside photo taken by Tim Hardin himself. The deep brown border frames the image beautifully, making it an excellent display piece for vinyl enthusiasts. Track List, Studio Improv, Musician Lineup: a beautiful transition for Hardin, moving from standard folk into broadly expressed blues-rock and country-folk. Notably, jazz fusion keyboard pioneer Joe Zawinul (from Weather Report) played on the album and provided arrangements for key tracks like "Hoboin" and "Georgia on My Mind". Collector Studio Note: the back cover reveals that the track "Soft Summer Breeze" was originally recorded as an alternate version of "Hoboin". The final version heard on this vinyl features entirely new tunes and lyrics that were completely improvised by Hardin in one single take.
