Highly collectible vintage vinyl pressing of Steppenwolf's landmark sophomore studio album, The Second, originally released in October 1968 on ABC/ Dunhill Records. This specific copy features the highly coveted original reflective metallic foil front cover jacket and includes rare distinguishing details that point to an authentic early US pressing. The deadwax matrix contains the distinct "LW" etching, indicating the master lacquer was plated/processed at Longwear Plating. It also comes complete with its original vintage inner sleeve displaying the classic era-specific Dunhill artwork. Catalog: DS-50037 Cover: Original 1968 pressings feature this beautiful, shimmering psychedelic metallic foil background designed by Gary Burden, wth photography by Henry Diltz. This delicate foil surface was highly prone to ring-wear and flaking. Later reissues stripped away the foil finish for a flat, standard printed jacket. Tracklist: side 2 includes the timeless counterculture anthem "Magic Carpet Ride", alonside a continuous side long progressive rock suite bridging tracks B3 through b7.
