Beautiful original US pressing of Venus and Mars, the 1975 rock masterpiece by Paul McCartney & Wings. Released as the highly anticipated follow-up to Band on the Run, this record solidified Wings as stadium rock stars. This lot comes in its original gatefold cover format and has the original custom printed inner sleeve. A prime piece of history for any Beatles solo or classic rock vinyl collector. Capitol Records (SMAS 11419) first pressing Cover: art styled by the famous British design group Hipgnosis, renowned for their work with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin - a photograph of two billiard balls on a dark felt surface, lit to represent the planets Venus (yellow) and Mars (red). Inner gatefold features a panoramic photo taken by Aubrey Powell on the white sand banks of Owens Lake, California, capturing the band in distinct 1970s fashion. Tracklist: stellar mix of arena rock and melodic pop, notable for transitions where tracks seamlessly bleed into one another. Auction Note: All lots are from a single estate collection.
