Pair of Japanese (kakemono) or traditional Chinese-style hanging scroll artworks, each with calligraphic inscriptions and red seal marks.

One depicts bamboo, pine and red plum blossoms, traditionally associated with the “Three Friends of Winter,” rendered in expressive black ink with touches of pale blue and vivid red. The inscription appears to include 三友圖, meaning approximately “Picture of the Three Friends.”

The second depicts a finely detailed winter mountain landscape, with snow-covered trees, architectural elements and a small mounted traveller beneath an umbrella. The prominent inscription appears to read 冬景瑞雪, approximately “Winter Scene / Auspicious Snow.”

Additional artist-style calligraphy and a red seal appear beneath.

Vintage framed historical print titled “The Vancouver Fire of 1886” by British Columbia artist Vern Tremewen, No. 6 in Ocean Cement&#39;s “Building B.C.” Collection.

The collection was commissioned by Ocean Cement in connection with the 1966 Centenary of British Columbia and depicted events important to the development of the province. This dramatic scene portrays the Great Vancouver Fire of June 13, 1886, with residents escaping into the water as the early city burns.

Original Ocean Cement explanatory label remains attached to the back and provides historical information about the fire and the Building B.C. collection.

Lebadang was a Vietnamese-born French artist best known for his densely textured mixed-media paintings of molded pasteboard, limestone, and pigment on burlap or canvas surfaces. Lebandang’s work often depict forms of horses, floral imagery, Vietnamese villages, and other subjects, seemingly oscillating between abstraction and representation a muted background. Born in 1921 in Bich-La-Dong, Vietnam, Lebadang emigrated to Paris in 1939 where he fought in the French Resistance Army against the Nazi invasion. He was subsequently captured and held in a prison camp, eventually being released and going on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Today, Lebadang’s works are in the collections of the Cincinnati Museum of Art, the Rockefeller Collection in New York, and the Phoenix Museum of Art, among others. Lebadangon died March 8, 2015 in Paris, France.

Original watercolour on paper by Russian artist Konstantin Aleksandrovich Sheiko (b. 1978), an oil lantern, wooden mug, fruit and draped fabrics.

Signed lower right in Cyrillic “ШЕЙКО К.” (K. Sheiko).

The reverse of the framed work contains handwritten notations identifying the subject as “Oil Lantern”, dated 1991, with the notation “12 y-o.” Sheiko was born in Moscow in 1978 and entered the Moscow Academic Art Lyceum in 1990, making the age and date consistent with an early student-period work.

Also present on the backing is a “PRINTED IN RUSSIA” label and a circled handwritten “45”, possibly an inventory or framing notation.

Presented under glass with a wide linen-textured mat, gold inner fillet and substantial gold-tone moulded frame.

The identification is supported by the Cyrillic signature, the 1991 date and age notation on the reverse, and the documented chronology of Konstantin Sheiko. No certificate of authenticity accompanies the work.
