A signed and dated print titled "Landscape - Mythology of High Noon" by Japanese modernist artist Hodaka Yoshida (1926–1995), 1972. Part of Hodaka's "Mythology and Landscape" period (1966–1974), during which he used the word "shinwa" (myth/mythology) throughout his titles as a reference to Western culture's strangeness, as seen elsewhere in his body of work (e.g. "Landscape - Virgo," "Landscape - Capricorn," "Landscape - Libra"). Hodaka Yoshida was the son of shin-hanga master Hiroshi Yoshida, but broke from his family's traditional style to become a pioneering figure in Japan's postwar sosaku hanga (creative print) movement. This print depicts a surreal composition with a reclining figure over patterned textile beneath a glowing moon or sun on the horizon. Pencil-signed, titled, and dated by the artist, with edition number, in the original frame. Print 2/25 Pickup category timeslot {A}
