A Late Georgian painted bow-fronted hanging corner cabinet. Dating from the late C18th/Early C19th.
The curved doors have the original painting on them. Molded plinth to top and bottom. Original butterfly hinges on the doors. A functional light duty antique cabinet full of character. 

The Painting : originates from a famous ancient story recorded by Herodotus and was a popular subject in Baroque art. Queen Tomyris of the Massagetae defeated and killed the Persian king Cyrus the Great in 530 BC, then plunged his severed head into a vessel of human blood to avenge her son&#39;s death. the painting depicts the  &#34;Head of Cyrus brought to Queen Tomyris; the queen standing on a dais underneath a canopy at right, followed by servants and her train supported by two boys, while looking down at Cyrus&#39; head, which is being dipped into a vessel with blood at centre, soldiers and wise men onlooking at left, a dog in lower right, twisted columns in background.&#34; 

The painting is after a 1623 Painting by Peter Paul Rubens, and further more, specifically a Flemish print made after that painting by: Paulus Pontius in 1630. You can see the print on the British Museum website. 

The doors open and close freely, with a couple of hinges loosely attached. A number of the tiny brass nails are missing in some of the hinge nail holes - see hinge close up for example. The two left top and bottom door internal locks present and working - see photograph. The door middle lock and escutcheon are not present. The right door bows out a bit towards the top, not affecting use. The doors overlap fine. The bottom plinth sits at a slight angle, not affecting use when hung and mounted, the cabinet otherwise sits vertically - see photograph. This cabinet has had various repairs over it&#39;s life. Two of the bottom shelf interior boards have been replaced with oak boards at some point - see photograph. 

Dimensions are 22 1/2&#34; wide x 34 1/2&#34; tall. The two 90 degree sides measure 15 1/2&#34; each.

Cossacks in Exile (also known by its Ukrainian title, Zaporozhets za Dunayem) is a historic 1939 American musical film shot entirely in the Ukrainian language. It stands as a monumental piece of Ukrainian diaspora cinema, directed by Hollywood filmmaker Edgar G. Ulmer and produced alongside famed Ukrainian dancer and choreographer Vasyl Avramenko.

The Plot: Set in 1775, the story follows the Zaporozhian Cossacks who refuse to submit to Russian Empress Catherine the Great. After Russian forces move to destroy their fort, the Cossacks burn it down and flee across the Danube River into the Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey/Romania).

Frame measures 17&#34; x 21 1/2&#34;. Visible image area through the glass measures 13&#34; x 17 1/2&#34;. 

Furber&#39;s &#34;calendar of flowers&#34;, issued as a lavish catalogue of seeds available from his nursery in Kensington. There is a hand-colored plate for each month, in which are arranged the flowers that will bloom in that month. Each flower is numbered against a key at the bottom of the plate.

Married in 1929, Belle and Ralph Redner were Canadian folk artists who lived in Rednersville in Ameliasburgh Township, a historic community located along the Bay of Quinte in Prince Edward County, Ontario. They are best known for creating unique, local landscape paintings, typically dating from the 1950s to 1970s.

Artistic Background: Rather than formal fine art, the Redner&#39;s work falls squarely into the tradition of vintage Canadian folk art. Their original oil or acrylic paintings usually captured the historic, rural, and maritime environments, of the local area.

The family name is deeply woven into the geographic history of the region; Rednersville itself was settled by and named after United Empire Loyalist ancestors of the same Redner lineage back to 1798.
