This lot includes the following books: "Shadow River" by Walton Hall Smith. This fiction novel was originally published in 1927 by the Houghton Mifflin Company. This copy has that copyright date and publisher, so it may be a first edition. The cover shows very little wear, no splitting of spine. The story is a travel adventure set in the Congo region. It features themes related to ivory hunting which connects directly to the elephant emblem shown on the cover. "The Winding Stair" by A.E.W. Mason. This is an adventure and romance novel. It was first published in 1923 and that is the copyright of this book. The author A.E.W. Mason is famously known for his timeless adventure classic "The Four Feathers". Cover shows some wear. Some splitting of spine in the front but all pages are intact. "Nelly's Silver Mine" by Helen Hunt Jackson who used the pen name H.H. This late-19th-century children's novel was first published in 1878. This copy has a copyright of 1910. It follows the story of a family moving from New England to the rugged frontier of Colorado where Nelly embraces the pioneer lifestyle. The cover artwork is by Harriet Roosevelt Richards, a prominent American illustrator. Cover shows minor wear. No splitting of spine. "The Re-Creation of Brian Kent" by Harold Bell Wright. This popular fiction novel was originally published in 1919 and that is the copyright of this book. Harold Bell Wright was a minister-turned-author who became one of the most successful American writers of the early 20th century. Only wear to cover is at top and bottom of spine.
