A wonderfully aged and highly characterful vintage music-lover’s lot featuring a handcrafted wooden record storage box PLUS 30+ vintage 78 RPM records! The box is a fantastic piece in its own right, with a rich brown finish, vivid green interior, metal handles and the wonderfully nostalgic “RECORDS WITH CARE” lettering across the lid. Inside you’ll find 30+ vintage 78 RPM shellac records, many still housed in their original period sleeves. Labels photographed include Capitol, Decca, Columbia, Victor, Bluebird, His Master’s Voice and Electrola, among others. The box also features intriguing original/reused markings on the exterior, including “J.P.C. BAGCHUS” and Dutch wording, adding an unusual European flavour and plenty of visual interest. The construction includes traditional wood joinery, metal hinges, handles and a front clasp. Inside is an assortment of vintage 78 RPM shellac records, many in their original period paper sleeves. Labels photographed include Capitol, Decca, Columbia, Victor, Bluebird, His Master’s Voice and Electrola, among others. There are some wonderful vintage graphics and typography throughout the sleeves and labels, making this collection appealing not only to record collectors but also to anyone who appreciates vintage ephemera and music history. One photographed Capitol record features Johnny Mercer and the Pied Pipers, with Paul Weston and his Orchestra. Other records include selections from the classical, popular and orchestral repertoire, with some labels and sleeves featuring older artwork, advertising and period typography. This is a fabulous decorative and collecting lot with multiple possibilities: use the wooden box as authentic vintage storage, a record-room accent, display piece, prop, or simply enjoy discovering the records inside. The aged condition is very much part of the charm. The wooden box shows considerable wear, scuffing, finish loss, scratches, dings and age-related marks, while the interior has been painted a vivid green and also shows wear. The record sleeves are generally aged, worn and/or creased, and individual records have not been professionally tested or graded. Records are sold as an assorted vintage collection and are being offered in as-found condition. Playback quality has not been tested. A particularly fun lot for a 78 RPM collector, vintage music enthusiast, antique-shop decorator, record-room aficionado, photographer, film/prop collector or anyone who appreciates objects with a story. Great vintage looks + genuine old records + a seriously cool storage box one heck of a conversation piece. Pickup category timeslot {A}
