Lot #20: 2 Antique Sterling Silver & Mother of Pearl Fruit Knives

Lot includes two Victorian fruit knives with mother of pearl handles and sterling silver blades and accents, both in excellent condition and with period leather boxes. The smaller knife has British hallmarks on the blade for Birmingham 1894 with the makers' mark of Hilliard & Thomason. It is 3 inches long when closed and 5 3/8 inches when open and has a total weight of 25.9 grams. The knife is in a period leather case that is 3 3/4 x 1 inch across and has the retailer name and liverpool address in gold lettering of R.E. Oldfield. The larger knife has British hallmarks for London 1887 including the Queen Victoria duty mark and makers' mark of Thomas Bradbury III & John S Henderson who were partners from 1877 until 1888. The knife is 3 1/2 inches long when closed and 6 3/8 inches when open, and has a total weight of 46.11 grams. There is a monogrammed cartouche on the MOP handle reading J.T.T. Brown. The knife is in a period leather box in good condition for its age with wear on the corners. Both antique knives are in excellent condition and the sterling silver has only been lightly polished.
