P. P. Caproni & Brother’s “Boys Playing on Trumpets,” a full-size plaster reproduction of one of the panels from Luca della Robbia’s Cantoria for Florence Cathedral. Pietro Paulo Caproni and his brother Emilio ran a prominent Boston firm that produced high-quality plaster casts of famous ancient, medieval, Renaissance, and contemporary sculptures. Beautifully preserved, two scraped on the top edge as shown. This is heavy and breakable. Bring help, padding and a big bar or truck.

Outstanding example of early 1900s pyrography, done at a time when piano benches were a big furniture category. The whiplash curves and stylized flowers are very Art Nouveau, while the little lyre motif on the long side makes perfect sense for a piano bench. The border on the top is individually drawn/burned. Some slight wear on top. Opens to hold sheet music.

Fabulous specimen! Serpentine crest rail, carved floral crest, cabriole legs, curved arms, shaped apron and continuous molded edges. The fabric is a combination of fine weaving along with needlepoint, perfectly meshed together to create pastoral scenes. Two small tears on main cushion and the back has one small tear, as shown.

Early to mid 20th century-style painted wooden storage chests. Curved barrel style. Containers of this shape and style were originally used to store rice. Lids lift off. Inside is aged. Some with removable glass tops, so they can be used as side tables with storage. Lightweight but sturdy, really unique and beautiful. Brought over from Hong Kong in the 1980’s.

Coalport ivory relief dessert plates set of 8

Set of 8 lovely Coalport dessert plates. The broad ivory rim is molded in very high relief, with rococo-style shells, scrolling foliage and flowers, which molded into the porcelain body. The center features a black transfer-printed floral/chinoiserie design in the center, with tiny touches of color. These plates were made somewhere between 1891-1920.
