This is an original World War II Canadian Ration Book No. 2 (issued with bilingual text as Carnet de Rationnement 2), which was distributed by the Wartime Prices and Trade Board's Ration Administration during the 1940s homefront mobilization.     •    Issuance & Details: Hand-inscribed to Oliver Lee at 951 Lakeshore Rd., New Toronto (now part of Etobicoke, Ontario), carrying serial number TW-014716.     •         •    Purpose: These books contained detachable stamps and coupons used by Canadian citizens to legally purchase rationed household commodities like sugar, tea, coffee, butter, and meat.     •         •    Historical Context: Canada instituted nationwide rationing starting in 1942 to manage shortages and redirect essential supplies overseas for the war effort.
