Lot #98: Pair of Antique WWI-Era Framed Ocean Liner Lithographs – S.S. Imperator & R.M.S. Empress of Britain, c. 1913

- Pair of authentic early 20th-century framed maritime prints featuring two of the most prominent ocean liners of the pre-World War I era. - Each panoramic lithograph is housed in its original, heavily crazed dark oak "alligator skin" style veneer frame, common to the Edwardian period. - Print 1: S.S. Imperator – Showcases the legendary German luxury liner with printed text noting her specifications: "50,000 Tons; 728 Feet Long; 101½ Feet Broad". - Print 2: R.M.S. Empress of Britain – Depicts the iconic Canadian Pacific Railway transatlantic steamship, printed text in the bottom right corner highlights her measurements: "Length 548 Ft. Breadth 65 Ft. Tonnage 14,189". - The reverse side of the Empress of Britain frame still retains its original, rare paper trade label from Geo. Noble's "Art Shop" located at 1053 Bloor St. W., Toronto, featuring an early 4-digit "Kenwood" telephone exchange registry. - Antique made 1913–1914. - Both pieces are in good antique condition, showing age-appropriate wear that highlights their historic character. The lithographs have developed a warm, uniform sepia patina with minor scattered foxing and dust under the original glass. The original wooden frames retain their beautiful period crackle finish, with small areas of surface chipping and minor wood loss near the corners. Reverse brown paper backings are brittle and partially torn/taped with original wire hangers intact.
