This antique timepiece is a classic early-20th-century Sessions mechanical mantel clock, manufactured by the Sessions Clock Company in Forestville, Connecticut. These spring-driven clocks were highly popular between 1903 and 1930 and are valued today for their historic craftsmanship and traditional mechanical movements. These classic models typically feature an 8-day mechanical wind-up movement. They are built with a "time and strike" mechanism, meaning they automatically chime the corresponding number of hours on the hour and feature a single toll on the half-hour.Winding Key: The small metal winding key included in the image is a vital component. The dual winding holes (arbors) on the face of the clock are used to wind the internal springs—one side powers the timekeeping mechanism, while the other powers the chime: Behind the case, a hanging pendulum regulates the speed of the gear train.
