Lot #181: Antique Cast Iron Harpoon Hay Fork

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 1h 26m

Antique cast-iron harpoon hay fork (also called a hay harpoon or hay spear), historically used with a barn track and trolley system to lift loose hay or straw into a loft. The tool was plunged into a pile or wagon load of hay, and pulling the operating lever triggered internal barbed tines or "wings" to pop outward and lock the load in place for hoisting. Frequently manufactured by companies like Beatty Bros. in Canada or F.E. Myers & Bro. Co. in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, these vintage farm implements are primarily sought after as rustic primitives or industrial decor pieces for barns, gardens, and homes Dimensions: 40" x 19 1/2" Pickup category timeslot {A}
