About the Artist: Sean Caulfield Born in England, Sean Caulfield immigrated to South Africa in 1971, where he grew to become a master of contemporary African art forms. Fascinated by the historical cave paintings scattered across the mountains of Southern Africa, Caulfield dedicated his career to studying their natural state, imagery, and spiritual meanings. He eventually founded the acclaimed Rock Art Gallery in Cape Town to share these cultural treasures with global collectors. Caulfield’s mastery of realistic rock replication earned him massive museum and institutional commissions in South Africa. Most notably, he designed and constructed a 300-square-meter artificial cave exhibit inside Museum Africa in Johannesburg, as well as a 100-square-meter replica system for the world-famous Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn.
