Approximately 35&#34; high x 22&#34; wide. Likely mid-20th century. General age-related wear to the finish and upholstery; one seat support panel appears to have been replaced. Extensive blue and white porcelain dinner and serving service, decorated throughout with scrolling floral and foliate designs in the Chinese tradition. Includes a large assortment of dinner plates, serving platters, shallow bowls, rice and soup bowls in multiple sizes, covered bowls, sauce dishes, porcelain spoons, spoon rests, condiment vessels and pouring pieces.

A particularly large assembled service, appearing to contain well over 100 pieces. Pieces are marked “中國 / Made in China” to the undersides. Includes several substantial serving bowls and platters along with numerous matching place-setting pieces.

Chinese calligraphy set comprising an ornate carved hardwood brush stand with nine assorted hanging calligraphy brushes. The stand features pierced geometric and scrolling decoration with stylized dragon-form terminals and individual pegs along the upper rail. Large-format “Album Paintings by Chao Shao-An”, first edition, 1985, published by Art Book Co., Ltd., Taipei, Taiwan. Dedicated to the work of noted Chinese Lingnan School painter Chao Shao-An (Zhao Shao&#39;ang, 1905–1998).

Substantial boxed portfolio comprising 160 colour plates reproducing Chao&#39;s album paintings, including birds, insects, flowers, fish, landscapes and calligraphy. Plates are individually captioned in Chinese and English, with examples including Loquats Ripen, Cicada, Homecoming, Nature&#39;s Music Purifies My Heart, The Kill, Poised for Flight, Early Snow in the Swamp, The Stream and On the Wings. Also includes introductory text, contents and calligraphic material.

First edition dated May 15, 1985, with original publisher&#39;s boxes/cases and printed title bands. An unusually extensive reference collection of Chao Shao-An&#39;s work. Some age and storage wear to outer boxes and packaging; contents appear generally well preserved.
