Lot #1: Folk Art Log Cabin Model

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 1h 54m

Folk Art Log Cabin Model • I have not been able to discover who made this "folksy Log Cabin", but believe it was made in BC, and most likely on Vancouver Is. • This is a handcrafted piece for a display, a train model, or even as architectural rendering of an actual cabin. • This model is a two-story design with a textured, shingled-style roof. • The chimney is crafted from small, smooth river stones, held together with a mortar-like adhesive to mimic a real stone hearth. • The combination of horizontal "logs" on the lower level and vertical planks on the upper level is characteristic of transitional folk art, where different building styles are represented in one piece. • The shingles appear to be made from natural cedar bark. • The "main floor" has a pot belly stove, a fireplace and hearth, a chair, and a ladder leading to the second floor. • The "second floor" has a bed with a "hand knitted" bedspread, a chest of draws, and the two "stove pipes. which act to anchor the roof. • My best guess to age is sometime between 1950 and 1970, because of the plastic for the windows, and the type of yarn for the bedspread. • In fairly good condition, no cracks, breaks, but some roof tiles are missing View Images. • 22 cm. x 22.5 cm. x 15 cm. Dimensions: 22 cm. x 22.5 cm. x 15 cm. Pickup category timeslot {A}
