Lot #58: 2020 BLACK HILLS ESTATE WINERY - NOTA BENE

The 2020 Nota Bene is the flagship Bordeaux-style red from Black Hills Estate Winery in British Columbia’s South Okanagan Valley. Nota Bene has been produced since 1999 and has become one of the best-known premium red blends in British Columbia. 750 ml The 2020 vintage is particularly noteworthy because, for the first time in Nota Bene’s history, Cabernet Franc became the dominant grape. The blend consists of 42% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. It was matured for 18 months in French oak, approximately 44% new. Critically, this is regarded as one of the stronger Nota Bene vintages. John Schreiner awarded it 95 points, describing 2020 as the best vintage in a decade and noting its ability to develop further with cellaring.
