Stunning singer machine featuring a winged sphinx wearing an Egyptian head dress, set beneath a decorative half-circle pattern. Sewing machine folds down in to the table base - may be used as a table or sewing machine. Serial number JA084574 is stamped on the bed of the sewing machine near gold gilt scrollwork decals. Manufacturer: Singer Sewing Machine Company Factory Location: St. John's (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu), Quebec, Canada Production Date Range: Serial numbers with the JA prefix were allotted between 1924 and 1936. Style: Ornate, multi-color transfer decal often referred to by collectors as the "Sphinx" or "Memphis" design. History: This iconic decal style was widely used by the Singer Manufacturing Company on vintage treadle and hand-crank models (such as the Singer Model 15, 27, and 66) produced from the late 1890s through the 1950s.
