Lot #41: Indochina Dragon 1800s - Gabriel Viardot (?)

Impressive heavily carved ornate dragon or gryphon set to hold a mirror in a frame. This rare piece is in the style of Gabriel Viardot (1830-1906) (see 1rst dibs for information on Viardot). Originally this item was in the Villa of an Italian Count in the late 1800s and so it is possible that it is Viardot. Condition is consistent with age and use - see photographs. Normally this dragon holds a mirror, which may be added by the buyer. Beautiful piece with great movement. Reminiscent of the MockingJay from Hunger Games or something out of Harry Potter the Lord of the Rings.
