The carved mark on this antique Japanese table is a stylized Japanese kanji character representing a maker's mark or shop sign (known as a Yagō 屋号). In traditional Japanese craftsmanship—such as Mingei (folk craft) furniture, merchants and woodworking guilds often branded, chiseled, or painted these geometric yagō marks onto the wood. This table measures 12" by 12" and stands 24" high. Excellent vintage condition; two of the legs are loose and would need to be reglued.
