Collection of 6 Framed Engravings. Some foxing as seen in photos. 5 Matted in 8 x 10 deep green mats: 1 - antique steel engraving titled "Hindu Fakirs Practising Their Superstitious Rites Under the Banyan Tree", engraved by Bell 1 - antique steel engraving titled "Inneres eines Götzentempels zu Benares" (Interior of a Temple at Benares / Varanasi, India), originally published around 1840 in Meyer’s Universum 1 - antique copperplate engraving titled "Hindoos Practising Their Superstitious Rites" (often referred to as Hindu Fakirs Practising their Superstitious Rites or Divers Pagods and the Penitence of the Faquirs), originally designed and engraved by Bernard Picart for his monumental 18th-century work Cérémonies et coutumes religieuses de tous les peuples du monde (first published in the 1720s and later reissued in various editions and printings). 1 - historical coloured print titled "The Churuck Pool or Swinging Ceremony" (depicting the traditional Indian festival Charak Puja or hook-swinging ritual), which appears in 19th-century colonial publications such as Edward Henry Nolan's Illustrated History of the British Empire in India. 1 - antique hand-colored print titled "INSOLATION OF A HINDOO WIDOW UPON HER HUSBAND'S FUNERAL PIRE" (often described as a widow committing sati or suttee on a funeral pyre in India), likely dating from the early 19th century (c. 1815–1823) from collection: The Gallery of Nature and Art or historical travel and cultural publications 1 - off-white mated print: antique sepia or black-and-white print or engraving featuring vintage city or harbor scene akin to historical prints by artist James Pattison Cockburn of Calcutta view series JENN: Condition as seen in photos.
