Lot #71: Vintage Mid-Century Alaska Black Diamond Jewelry Set – Gold-Tone Pendant Necklace Earrings

Mid-century vintage jewelry parure from the historic Alaska Black Diamond brand. This coordinated set includes an openwork filigree pendant necklace and a matching pair of earrings, elegantly styled in a textured gold-tone finish. The set remains showcased in its original satin-lined presentation box, complete with the iconic brand ribbon and crest. Gemstones: High-polish, faceted pear-shaped Hematite stones (historically and commercially marketed under the trade name "Alaskan Black Diamond"). "Alaska Black Diamond" was a highly popular souvenir and regional fashion brand during the 1950s through the 1970s. Hematite jewelry has a deep-rooted history in Alaskan trade, stretching back to early Russian exploration when local silversmiths fashioned the polished mineral into fine gifts. By the mid-century era, companies beautifully packaged these sets in custom branded boxes—like the one seen here—selling them in prestige boutiques and regional department stores to tourists wishing to bring home a memorable token of the North.
