Lot #126: Large Vintage MCM Marta Hauer "Red Birds" Textile Art Signed 27"x50"

Title: Red Birds Artist: Marta Hauer Medium: Original Wax-Resist Batik / Dyed Textile on Canvas Stretchers Dimensions: 27" x 49.5" Signature: Signed lower right (M. Hauer) This large-scale vertical textile work utilizes traditional wax-resist batik dyeing to create a graphic composition of two stylized figures encased in elaborate decorative hoods and swaddling. The artwork features a warm color palette of terracottas, burnt orange, ochre, cream, and deep chocolate brown. The upper figure's face is framed by concentric geometric bands, radial sunburst patterning, and fine crackle lines characteristic of hand-waxed dye baths. Below, a smaller swaddled figure is nestled within cross-hatched, lattice-patterned textiles, presumably a young child or baby. The surrounding composition uses bold diagonal stripes and repeating oval motifs to balance the figurative elements.
