Lot #229: Vintage Universal Mid-Century Chalkware Accent Lamp w/ Fiberglass Shade

Vintage Universal Statuary Co Mid-Century Chalkware Accent Lamp with original Fiberglass two-part clip-on shade, featuring an Asian boy playing an instrument. The colours are very vibrant thanks to the red shade, which contrasts very nicely with his black and gold outfit. There was a slight accident that required me to glue a piece back on, but I fixed and touched it up so it's as good as new. The lamp itself is really well preserved for being around 70 years old. It's made by the Universal Statuary Corporation (often stamped as Universal Statuary Co. of Chicago).Founded in Chicago during the 1930s by the Lucchesi family, the company became highly famous in the 1950s and 1960s for producing detailed plaster/chalkware figures, bookends, and lamps. This specific lamp depicts their popular mid-century Asian Boy figurine seated with a traditional stringed instrument (resembling a pipa or luan) under a wide-brimmed hat. See pics for dimensions.
