Lot #35: Vintage Heisey Ridgeleigh Crystal Candelabras with Prisms – Rare 12” Statement Pair

Introduced in 1935, the Ridgeleigh pattern is celebrated as one of Heisey's premier Art Deco achievements, highly favored for its clean lines, heavy weight, and beautiful geometric light refraction.This impressive pair commands attention, standing at a substantial 12 inches tall and carrying immense physical weight typical of high-quality vintage American elegant pressed glass. Each feature a stunning tiered bobeche supporting a cascade of brilliant, faceted hanging crystal spear prisms. Prisms: Beautiful, clear faceted crystal spears. ***Note: One dangling crystal spear on the left candlestick is currently missing. These standard vintage prisms are easily sourceable online or at antique shops for simple replacement. All other prisms are present and intact. Founded by Augustus H. Heisey in Newark, Ohio in 1895, A.H. Heisey & Co. was renowned for producing upscale "elegant glass" rather than ordinary kitchenware. The Ridgeleigh pattern (#1469) was engineered in the mid-1930s during the height of the Art Deco movement. The pattern's sharp vertical ribbing and structural pillar silhouette were designed to emulate the sleek, skyscrapers and streamlined architecture of the era. The 12" candelabra stands out as one of the grandest and most striking silhouettes produced in this lineage, making it a prized acquisition for discerning American glassware enthusiasts. To create such tall, grand statement pieces without the glass cracking during the cooling process, Heisey molded these candelabras in three separate, high-quality glass sections (the tiered base, the fluted stem column, and the top bobeche cup). The factory then assembled them around a heavy, central internal threaded rod, capped with chrome or nickel-plated factory ferrules. Because the metal screw mechanism is sealed inside the hollow glass core, it remains beautifully preserved and exceptionally shiny—just as it did when it left the factory.
