Vintage 1980 Pang Tseng-Ying Gallery Exhibition Poster – Framed Artist: Pang Tseng-Ying (龎曾瀛, 1916–1997) Title/Event: Broward Art Galleries Exhibition Poster Date: November 1980 Origin/Venue: Pompano Beach, Florida Framing: Professionally framed by The Imaginus Print Shop (Historical Toronto location, 3221 Yonge St.) Overall Frame Dimensions: 23.25" x 31.75" About the Artist: Pang Tseng-Ying (1916–1997) Pang Tseng-Ying was a celebrated Chinese-American modernist master renowned for his exceptional ability to bridge traditional Eastern aesthetics with Western abstract expressionism. Born in Tokyo and raised in Beijing, Pang formally trained in traditional Chinese calligraphy and brush painting before studying Western oil painting at the prestigious Jinghua College of Art. After moving to Taiwan in 1949, he became a pillar of the region’s modern art movement, ultimately receiving the Chiang Kai-shek Award—the highest national honor for an individual in the arts. In 1966, backed by a grant from the Asia Foundation, Pang emigrated to the United States. His signature style combines fluid, philosophical watercolor washes and traditional ink techniques with structural, abstract space arrangements. Heavily inspired by the dense patterns and vibrant palettes of Tang Dynasty silk embroideries, his botanical and avian compositions are highly sought after by collectors of Mid-Century Asian-American modernism. His works have been featured in over 50 solo exhibitions worldwide and reside in prestigious permanent museum collections. Artwork & Poster Details This vintage gallery exhibition poster was published to commemorate Pang’s November 1980 solo showcase at the Broward Art Galleries in Pompano Beach, Florida. The poster face beautifully reproduces one of his signature dreamlike watercolor compositions, featuring intricate floral elements, delicate bleeding color washes, a printed cursive signature, and his traditional name seal (chop) rendered in ancient seal script (Zhuanshu).Condition ReportExcellent Vintage Condition: The poster matrix sits entirely flat against the backing board with absolutely no buckling, rippling, or waving. Surface Integrity: The paper margins are remarkably clean. There are no signs of water damage, tears, staining, or foxing (age spots) Color Quality: The pigments are crisp and well-preserved, showing no noticeable fading from light exposure. Frame: Housed in a vintage, era-appropriate slim metal sectional poster frame. The backing retains its original historical paper label from The Imaginus Print Shop in Toronto, anchoring its provenance and early-1980s distribution history.
