Lot #48: Vintage Mid-Century Asian Mixed Media Textile Wall Scroll – Geishas & Lanterns Scene

- Decorative wall hanging scroll featuring a stylized scene of three women in traditional attire engaging in a tea ceremony beneath hanging decorative lanterns. - Features a unique mixed-media construction, the background canvas is a textured fabric resembling moiré silk or heavy bark cloth, providing a distinct ribbed visual depth. The figures, lanterns, and central low tea table are rendered using applied paint, stenciled patterns, and decorative elements, including faux gemstone accents on the hairpieces and fan. - The scroll is framed at the top and bottom with clean, minimalist black wooden dowels/bars, complete with an integrated metal hanging bracket at the top. - Vintage 1950s or 1960s - Used, vintage condition and shows signs of age and wear. There is noticeable paint flaking, chipping, and distressing throughout the painted figures, table, and lanterns (particularly visible on the red and green garments and table legs). The fabric backing shows light creasing from being rolled but remains structurally intact. The back of the scroll shows paint residue from being rolled up and contact with paint.
