Lot #16: Vintage Richard Hoffman "Alley Scene" Hand-Colored Block Print, Pirates Alley New Orleans

Vintage hand-colored block print titled "Alley Scene," signed by the artist Richard Hoffman in the lower margin. The scene appears to depict Pirates Alley in New Orleans' French Quarter, with wrought-iron balconies, a gas street lamp, and trees in the courtyard beyond. The heavy black key block appears to be a relief print (woodcut or linocut), with color added by hand in what looks like crayon, pastel or gouache. Close inspection shows no halftone dots, and the pigment sits raised on the surface of the soft, warm-toned paper. Title and signature are hand-lettered in the margin. Presented in a mid-century ribbed cream and gold-toned wood frame with a taupe mat, under glass. Likely 1950s-60s framing. Measurements: 15" x 19" including frame Condition: Good vintage condition with age toning to the paper, as expected. Some small surface specks and mild wear to the color in places. No tears or losses seen. Frame shows light age wear. Back of frame has not been opened, so the print has not been examined out of the frame.
