Lot #85: Grant Wood "Daughters of Revolution" Framed Art Print - Beaded Trim Frame

Description: Framed art reproduction of renowned American Regionalist painter Grant Wood's celebrated 1932 satirical masterpiece, "Daughters of Revolution" (original housed in the Cincinnati Art Museum). Historical Background & Satirical Details: In 1927, Wood was commissioned to design a stained-glass memorial window in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sourcing fine glass from Germany. The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) protested against using materials from a former wartime adversary. In response, Wood created this work—which he referred to as his only satirical painting—depicting three prim, stern-faced women in front of Emanuel Leutze's iconic painting "Washington Crossing the Delaware" (ironically also painted in Germany). The center figure holds a British-made Willow pattern teacup, delivering a biting critique of the self-proclaimed patriotic society's contradictions and pretensions. - Artist: Renowned American Regionalist artist Grant Wood (dated 1932 in plate) - Title: "Daughters of Revolution" (1932) - Frame Dimensions: Approx. 36" W x 21" H - Presentation: Dark matting with beaded antique gold fillet in solid black wood frame under glass - Condition: Good pre-owned condition; print and glass are clean and intact, frame shows light cosmetic edge wear consistent with handling.
