Published in Minneapolis by the prominent diaspora press Tilta Apgāds, this book compiles Krūmiņš's celebrated short stories and novellas. The volume features its striking original red cloth binding adorned with fine gold gilt decoration on the spine and a stylized rose on the front board. • The Author (Andrejs Krūmiņš): Born in Latvia in 1925, Krūmiņš was drafted into the Latvian Legion during World War II. Following the war, he settled as an exile in Lyon, France, where he spent his life writing. His work is deeply admired for its realistic, grounded portrayals of Latvian rural traditions, generational dynamics, and the psychological impact of wartime experiences. Mijkrēslī was his very first major published prose collection. • The Publisher (Tilta Apgāds): This book is a prime piece of cold-war era Latvian Diaspora (Trimda) history. "Tilta apgāds" was one of the premier exile publishing institutions operating out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. These houses were vital to preserving Latvian culture, uncensored history, and language arts globally while Latvia was under Soviet occupation. • Language & Rarity: Because these books were printed in small quantities strictly for the scattered global community of displaced Latvians, print runs were highly limited. Finding them in well-preserved, clean condition outside of the Baltic region or major academic archives is relatively rare. Pickup category timeslot {A}
