Exceptional collection of three vintage Latvian-language first editions written by prominent exile author Kārlis Ķezbers and published by the historical Tilta Apgāds in Minneapolis. These beautifully preserved hardcovers represent a vital piece of 20th-century Baltic diaspora history and include his highly celebrated animal fable alongside his adult fiction. Works Included: • Sapnis par rozi (A Dream About a Rose) (1964): First edition. A compelling novel reflecting Ķezbers' lyrical and psychological narrative depth. • Brencītis (1967): First edition. Described on the title page as a pasaka (tale/fable), this is Ķezbers’ most famous children's work following the adventures of a black kitten. This copy features interior illustrations and cover design credits by renowned artist Viestarts Aistars. • Mantojums (The Inheritance) (1971): First edition. A collection of short stories and novellas (stāsti un noveles) featuring artistic vignettes by graphic designer and illustrator Ojārs Jēgens. • The Publisher (Tilta Apgāds): Founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tilta Apgāds was one of the premier Latvian diaspora publishing houses during the Cold War. They served a vital role in preserving Baltic language, identity, and high-quality typography outside the Soviet occupation zone, making their prints highly sought-after artifacts of exile cultural resilience. • The Author (Kārlis Ķezbers): Ķezbers (1914–2006) was a master stylist of Latvian prose who fled his homeland during WWII, eventually settling in Chicago. His children's book Brencītis won the prestigious Latvian Kārlis Goppers Award in 1968, cementing this specific 1967 printing as a cornerstone piece for any Baltic children's literature collection. • Linguistic & Diaspora Rarity: Published in small print runs strictly for the scattered global Latvian exile community, these original transatlantic printings are significantly rarer than post-independence homeland reprints. Finding a cohesive, three-book thematic group by the same author in such remarkable condition is highly uncommon. Pickup category timeslot {A}
