Lot #116: Pair of MCM Federal Glass Company "Sun Ray" pattern clear glass serving platter

First introduced in the mid-20th century, this popular pressed glass piece is highly recognized by collectors for its striking mid-century modern aesthetic and specific design traits: • The Pattern: A bold, stylized geometric sunburst or starburst design consisting of sharp, elongated glass rays that emanate cleanly outward from a smooth, circular center ring. • The Texture: The underside features the raised, molded texture of the rays which dynamically catches and refracts light, while the top serving surface remains completely smooth. • The Border: A wide, flat outer rim that finishes with a subtly raised, protective outer containment lip.
