Bidding starts in 0d 4h 27m

Oil painting, signed Van Gelderen, titled “blowing bubbles “,depicting a young child standing by an arched stone window or alcove, holding a bubble wand and blowing a soap bubble. Art Subject and Symbolism Genre Scene: Depictions of children blowing soap bubbles were popular in 17th-century Dutch Golden Age painting (such as works by Caspar Netscher and Frans van Mieris the Elder) and later revived in 18th-century and Victorian art (such as Jean-Siméon Chardin or John Everett Millais). Homo Bulla: In Western art history, soap bubbles traditionally served as a memento mori—an allegory for homo bulla ("man is a bubble"), symbolizing the fragility, brevity, and transience of human life and youth. Condition Notes: The physical canvas or panel shows prominent vertical structural splits/cracks running down the center, and it is housed in an antique molded or carved wood frame.
