The interior retains its vivid green felt lining, complete with the gold-embossed historic royal warrant stamp: "By Appointment to His Majesty King George V — Mappin & Webb Ltd. — Montreal, Paris & London." 53-Piece Service Comprises: • 2 Sauce Ladles • 11 Dinner / Table Forks • 8 Dessert Forks • 12 Soup Spoons • 11 Dessert Spoons • 5 Teaspoons • 4 Large Table / Serving Spoons About the Maker: Mappin & Webb Ltd. Founded in 1775 by Jonathan Mappin in Sheffield, England, Mappin & Webb Antiques is one of the most celebrated and enduring luxury brands in British history. Over its 250-year heritage, the company evolved from a premier Sheffield cutlery workshop into an international silversmith and jeweler catering to high society, foreign monarchs, and global elite. Mappin & Webb’s prestige is firmly rooted in its long-standing relationship with the British Monarchy. The firm was granted its first Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1897 and has continuously served five consecutive monarchs since. In 2012, the company's master craftsman was appointed to the revered position of Crown Jeweller, serving as the official custodian of the British Crown Jewels. Renowned globally for marrying timeless elegance with uncompromising durability, historical pieces from Mappin & Webb remain highly sought after by collectors of fine silver and luxury heritage items. Even when dealing with silver plate rather than solid sterling silver, a Mappin & Webb set retains measurable commercial value for several distinct reasons: 1. The "Royal Warrant" Value Premium: The gold-embossed King George V warrant stamped inside the box lid Mappin & Webb Antiques transforms a simple wooden case into a historical artifact. Collectors of royal memorabilia and elite luxury brands actively pay a premium just for the provenance of the box. 2. Proprietary Plating Superiority (Mappin Plate): Unlike cheap or standard electroplated silver (EPNS), Mappin & Webb historically formulated their own proprietary, heavily-layered silver-plating techniques (including their famous Prince's Plate). They heavily reinforced the points of maximum friction—such as the tips of spoon bowls and fork tines. See photos for condition. Pickup category timeslot {A}
