Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives operated a successful printmaking business in New York City between 1835 and 1907. The company designed and sold inexpensive, hand painted lithographs based on news events, popular culture and Americana. The firm produced more than 7,500 lithographs over its 72 years of operation.
This vintage, wood, framed wall mirror contains a Currier and Ives colored lithograph called A Mountain Home. The Currier & Ives brand can be seen in the southwest corner of the lithograph.
