Lot #705: Kokeshi, Amigurumi, Taiwanese Corn Husk and Other Dolls and More B

Collection of vintage wooden and other dolls, with copy of collectors notes to self on materials and origins. Includes Japanese dolls, mostly collected in the 1960s: Tsuchiyu style kokeshi with rokuro moyo circular painting; "Straw Child" kokeshi with straw coat and a poem on the wooden base (collector's note "wooden - Japanese girl - rice straw raincoat"); Triangular wooden kokeshi, winter kokeshi; Female kokeshi-like wooden doll with collar and belt or obi of separate pieces of wood, mounted to a coiled basket tray; Female doll with hat, red flower, top, and aqua/light blue skirt, note on base "Japan 1965"; Pair of Amigurumi miniature crochet dolls, crocheted clothes with hand-painted silk faces (Collector acquired at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California, Japan Town area; Collector's note "crocheted (Madonna Inn)"). Three corn-husk dolls: 1 Taiwanese corn doll ( - yumi wawa - corn doll) with label "MADE IN TAIWAN REPUBLIC OF CHINA"; two other corn husk dolls women in red-and-white checked fabric dresses, and head coverings with the check and blue fabric (compare to Taiwanese examples). Korean straw doll of woman in dress and hat, marked on base "MADE IN KOREA aassi union 1876 GEONG CHANG MOOL SAM CO." Russian hand-carved and wood-burning decorated wooden boy figurine - mounted onto a bracket, note on bottom "Leningrad from Mary Jane". Tiny woven horsehair (crin de caballo) and ixtle fiber doll from Chile, man with a hat. Pinocchio wooden peg doll in knit clothing (compare Polish 1950s Pinocchio dolls). Egg cup modeled on British guard, marked "REGISTERED DESIGN MADE IN HONG KONG NO.1043 WING'S" under feet.  Hong Kong stuffed doll with topknot, blue clothing with stick on back (Collector's pinned note "Hong Kong 1965 Saw very few with this hair-style", note "Hong Kong Territories Stuffed Category Hong Kong top knot +"), same style as female doll in lot #707. Small gnome-like ornament with pointed red hat and green & yellow clothes (possibly the "felt - troll - Sweden" in Collector's notes). Miniature Vienna choir boy figurine, white felt over conical red base, with tiny song book. Small polychrome carved wooden figure in Northwest Native style mounted in black bowl, with a twist-tie glued to back for hanging. Two large wooden candle holders from HD Designs, Made in Thailand.
