                <div>Wladyslaw Chmielinski (1911-1979) was born in Warsaw and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts between 1926 and 1931.  His preferred media were oil and watercolor, which he used for his earliest works dating from the years 1935 to 1938.His central motif was Polish architecture, which he discovered, for instance, in Sandomierz or Krakow.  He also painted interiors of historic churches and palaces such as the Royal Castle in Warsaw.  Another part of his oeuvre includes rural scenes, which he usually decorated with sleighs, toboggan scenes, or folk festivals.From 1967 to 1969 he was repeatedly active in Denmark, but continuously lived and worked in Warsaw.&nbsp;<br></div><div>The painting measures 37" wide 29 1/2" tall, and 2" deep. The light attached measures 7" long and 5 1/2' wide. Compare online for 4k or more.</div>

The watchmaker Jose Lapanous at Holstein near Basel, Switzerland began selling his watches under the brand name Cimier in 1924. The watches, especially, were designed for the luxury market. Roland Gissing (1895-1967).&nbsp;Important Canadian artist from Toronto Collector.<div><br></div><div>Roland Gissing was Born in England, Roland Gissing became a painter of Canadian mountains and foothills.He was the son of an author and studied at George Watson's College in Edinburgh, Scotland.  His love of American cowboy movies influenced his move to Canada in 1913, and for ten years, he worked as a ranch hand in Alberta, Montana, Nebraska, and Arizona.Painter C.W. Jefferys in Calgary encouraged his art talent, and he settled near Cochrane at the fork of the Ghost and Bow Rivers.  In 1929, he had his first one-man show, which was highly successful although he had had little formal instruction.A studio fire in 1944 destroyed his oil paintings, so he turned to watercolor of the English school, painting in clear, soft tones.  His main subjects were sunlit mountains and rivers, scenes reproduced on calendars and cards, and he would often backpack into the wilderness for weeks to get his subjects. His oil paintings particularly of snow scenes are prized by collectors and art appreciates.</div>
