Original Swiss - 1960 Signatured Original Ceramic by Swiss Artist  "Gustav Sporri" for Ziegler - "Arabian"<div><br>                <div>Gustav Sprri (born July 20 , 1902 in Zell am Harmersbach ; died May 29 , 1976 in Schaffhausen ) was a Swiss ceramic artist<br></div><div>Sprri's father was a potter who had immigrated from the Swiss Tsstal , and his mother was a local baker's daughter. The Sprri-Rauers had nine children, five of whom died during the First World War . After school, Gustav Sprri began an apprenticeship as a ceramic painter with Georg Schmider in the United Ceramic Works in Zell am Harmersbach . After the apprenticeship, further training followed at the State Majolica Manufactory in Karlsruhe with Max Laeuger , at the Dresden School of Applied Arts and at the Vienna Art Academy .In May 1934, Gustav Sprri married Liselotte Lilo Zickner (19071980). From 1932 to 1945 he worked at Villeroy &amp; Boch in Dresden, where he rose to artistic director.&nbsp; In 1946, Sprri was taken prisoner and sentenced to forced labor in Dresden, which had been heavily bombed in February 1945 and occupied by the Red Army in May. Thanks to support from Bern, the Sprri couple managed to escape to Switzerland with their eight-year-old adopted daughter Elke in 1948. Their daughter Heide was born there in the same year. Gustav Sprri worked in a pottery near Thun for a short time . He then moved to the ceramic arts department at Tonwarenfabrik Ziegler AG in Schaffhausen, where he was artistic director from 1949 to 1964. In 1951, the Sprri couple built the "Trubegetli" residential and studio building in the Urwerf district in Neuhausen am Rheinfall . There Sprri began to work independently as a ceramist and artist parallel to his work at Ziegler AG, and after leaving Ziegler he worked exclusively in his own studio. Antique Compact &amp; Lightweight&nbsp; "Leather McClellan U.S. Civil War Saddle" - Includes a Gold Presentation Stirrup&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Captain George B. McClellan toured Europe with a military commission looking at new military tactics. Reportedly influenced by the saddles of Hussars&nbsp;he observed in Europe, McClellan returned and developed a new modified cavalry saddle. In 1859, the U.S. War Department adopted the McClellan saddle. They remained the standard issue throughout the history of the horse cavalry. The saddle was simple and less expensive than most. It was light enough not to weigh down the horse, yet it was sturdy and gave good support to the rider and his gear. In its original form the seat was covered with rawhide but was changed to leather in later incarnations. It featured a thick leather skirt and a leather covering for wooden stirrups. In addition, there was a girth strap made of woolen yarn. The McClellan saddle was placed on top of a saddlecloth, shabrack, or saddle blanket.                </div>                                <br>Condition: Antique<br>Measurements: 11 inch Seat

Antique 1917 "Life on The Mississippi"  by Mark Twain (Samuel L Clemens)<div><br>                <div>Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835&nbsp; April 21, 1910), best known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. He was praised as the "greatest humorist the United States has produced", and William Faulkner called him "the father of American literature".&nbsp; His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), the latter of which has often been called the "Great American Novel". Twain also wrote A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889) and Pudd'nhead Wilson (1894), and co-wrote The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today (1873) with Charles Dudley Warner.Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which later provided the setting for Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He served an apprenticeship with a printer and then worked as a typesetter, contributing articles to the newspaper of his older brother Orion Clemens. He later became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River before heading west to join Orion in Nevada. He referred humorously to his lack of success at mining, turning to journalism for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise.&nbsp; His humorous story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" was published in 1865, based on a story that he heard at Angels Hotel in Angels Camp, California, where he had spent some time as a miner. The short story brought international attention and was even translated into French. His wit and satire, in prose and in speech, earned praise from critics and peers, and he was a friend to presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty. Moraes - Silver Plated Chain &amp; Crane Medallion&nbsp;<div><br>                <div>Corey Moraes is of Tsimshian heritage (Lax Kwalaams Band) and belongs to the Raven Clan. His work can be seen in many publications, museums, galleries and private collections in North America, England and Japan and his designs have gained international recognition. In 2010, Moraes was the recipient of the Aboriginal Traditional Visual Art Award from the Canada Council for the Arts. A largely self-taught artist, he explains, in his own words: As far as I know, there werent any artists in my family. When I was about twenty-five, I started to look back at my own culture, in an exploration of who I was. So I did research in museums, galleries, and books and I had a moment of epiphany  the old pieces spoke to me in a certain way.
