Vintage Japanese Crepe Kimono, Iconic Asian Pattern in Cornflower Blue and Ivory, Handmade Yukata, One of a Kind Robe with Brocade Ivory Gold Sash.The contrasting cornflower blue and ivory colors depict traditional Japanese subjects in a new or Avant Garde way; Pagodas, Lotus, Flowering Trees, Bamboo with Geometric forms that intervene perfectly create a subdued, beautifully designed fabric. The robe is beautifully made in excellent vintage condition.It is difficult to date the time that this robe was made. I am guessing the 70s by the look and age of the brocade sash as well as the material used. Crepe seemed to have some popularity in the 70s...but, it very well could be older, or much older. Someone, more recently, added Velcro closures, which can be removed, depending on preference. A yukata is an unlined cotton summer kimono, worn in casual settings such as summer festivals and to nearby bathhouses. Originally worn as bathrobes, their modern use is much broader, and are a common sight in Japan during summer.
