This was followed by Japanese colonial rule. The hanbok eventually fell out of fashion in the early 20th century.Following World War 2 and the independence of the Korean peninsula, the hanbok made somewhat of a comeback, and is again worn for special occasions in both the North and South. Modern interpretations of the hanbok have even made splashes on the international circuit. The hanbok is unlikely to become daily attire again in Korea, but it will likely keep its unique position in Korean culture as it has done for 2000 years."The ensemble listed here is a magnificent formal gown and top. It is exquisitely and masterfully crafted. This out fit has never been worn and in pristine condition. The only clue that it has vintage age is the one snap on front of top, it has one snap, it is the older steel kind. The skirt is voluminous and flowing, I do not think it is silk, it has more of a light rayon type of feel to it. All of the pieces have a brocade like imprint within the composition of the fabric. The skirt and jacket are fully lined. The integration of the contrasting bands of metallic brocade on the sleeves is brilliant.Exquisite. That is all.Widest part of dress, under the armpit area measures 40" across flat. This is where it ties. It does not fully close, as shown in photos.Jacket chest measures 20" across flat, the longest front length measures 13".
