At the Beaux-Arts, he was given encouragement by Renoir, and at the Julian, where his contemporaries included Canadian students A.Y. Jackson and John Lyman, he studied under Tony Robert-Fleury, Jules Joseph Lefebvre and Jean-Paul Laurens. Upon completing his studies, Goldberg taught for eight years, first at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, and then at Berlin's Academie der Knste, where he was chosen to succeed Corinth as professor of drawing and painting. students A.Y. Sound no issues                <div><br></div><div>Chagall, whod been mesmerized by the circus community since he was a child, accepted Ambroise Vollards proposal in 1927 to illustrate circus performers. Vollard came up with the idea after the pair spent several evenings together at the Cirque dHiver. As he continued to create bright gouaches for Fables, Chagall initiated this new series, where a similar enchantment of line and color find their natural continuation in a succession of zany, fantastical characters. Within that series of nineteen gouaches, Vollard Circus: Acrobat With Horse [Cirque Vollard : L'Acrobate  cheval] (circa 1927 - 1928) depicts a rider in a conical hat, balanced precariously on a horse emerging from the dark.<br></div><br>Measurements: Frame 31&#34; x 26&#34;
