Mansoor Rahi is the leading abstractionist painter of Pakistan and his teaching and influence have led to the emergence of a larger number of prominent artists than any other teacher artist.When he came to Karachi in 1963, soon after graduating from the Arts college at Dhaka, he was still doing water color painting in a light impressionist style. . Earlier, he had completed his matriculation in Dhaka from Raj Shahi School.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Later on he moved to Karachi in 1964 and made it his home till 1983.Mansoor Rahi PaintingsMansoor rahi had the privilege of having two eminent art teachers, Mohammed Kibria, a noted artist, and Abdul Razaq. However Zainul Abedin who was the principle of the institute remained a lifelong inspiration to Mansoor rahi and impacted his painting in the following years. Mansoor paints with the same passion as he did when he surfaced on the art scene of what was then West Pakistan in the late 1960s.<br></div><div>In earlier years of his career mansoor rahi caught eye for cubanism paintings and adopted the discipline in his paintings. It is clearly dominant in his previous series. However mansoor rahi painting style has changed on various stages of his life. From 1969, his style changed, though it was evolving in the same direction. Painting fine&nbsp; light age wear to wood frame.<div><br></div><div>Lovely, vibrant and well painted water colour painting by Donald Colston Thyer 1925- 2022.</div><div><br></div><div>Don was proud of his career in the printing industry. He started as a Lithographic Draftsman while stationed in India where he was as a Sergeant with the Royal Engineering Survey from 1945 to 1947. Following his military career, he became an Estimator with ES&amp;A Robinson in Bristol, UK. In 1951, Don transferred to Toronto, Canada taking on the role of Printing Estimator and Administration Manager, Printing and Special Advertising Division. He and his bride settled in the Leaside area of Toronto. His knowledge and expertise in this industry led to his becoming a teacher at George Brown College where he and a colleague co-authored the first textbook for their Estimating Programme. Don cherished his time with the Royal Engineers Survey, in India, at the end of WWII. His book "Service with the Colours", which details his experiences there was referenced by university professors. While in India, he learned to converse in Urdu/Hindi and throughout his life he loved to surprise people by speaking the language which garnered many smiles. Fine sound original shape                <div>Profusely illustrated with lots of tipped in colour plates</div><div>"Original stiff vellum, gilt, upper cover with whimsical frame formed by the sweeping tails of two peacocks perched at the head of the board, these decorated with flowers, two elephants at the foot of the frame, lettering in faux Arabic script to upper cover and smooth spine, two tan silk ribbon closures, endpapers patterned with peacock feathers, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. 20 tipped-in color plates by Edmund Dulac, with numbered tissue guards."</div><div>This is the deluxe limited edition of an "Art Gift Book" illustrated by the celebrated Edmund Dulac. A review in The London Times on 18 October 1909 praised the work: "As a designer Mr. Dulac is wonderfully varied, and as a draughtsman often exquisite. His colour, too, is charming, with the preciosity that is to be expected from an illustrator of a poet of the East." Dulac (1882-1953) studied art at the university in his native Toulouse before emigrating to England when he was 22, at just the time when the process of color separation was making it possible to print faithfully the glowing colors of his palette. Between 1907, when his "Arabian Nights" appeared, and 1920, his works found an appreciative audience. Influenced by the work of the older artist Arthur Rackham, Dulac's illustrations have a sophisticated and exotic tone with rich color, reminiscent of the paintings of Gustav Klimt. Houfe says, "Dulac was immensely versatile and had more sense of color and design than most of his English contemporaries, excepting Rackham. He looked to the Middle and Far East for inspiration, and his watercolors of legendary subjects have a gemlike brilliance found only in Mogul miniatures, their flat, stylized and sleepy beauty sometimes comes from the Japanese print, sometimes from the Pre-Raphaelites and even occasionally from the Renaissance." After 1920, Dulac, who had become a naturalized British citizen, published several more illustrated fairy tales and also worked as a designer of costumes and sets.<br></div><br>Measurements: 11.25&#34; x 9&#34;

The glass appears lilac (or sometimes pink) in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky blue in fluorescent/white light. This is due to the presence of Neodymium oxide (NdO) in the glass. Glassware containing Neodymium was produced in several countries, including Scandinavia, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
