16-foot Disappearing Propeller Boat, LavonaGeneral description: Disappearing propeller boat (aka Dispro, Dippy) reportedly built by Greavettein Muskoka, year of construction and hull number not known.HIN: Hull pre-dates this requirementLicence No: None sightedObservationsGeneral state:The vessel was laid-up ashore on its trailer and was uncovered. The vessel was in fair cosmeticcondition with varnish finish in need of refinishingConfiguration:Open boat with forward engine, seats midships, forward and aft.Structural condition:The vessels hull was constructed of lapstrake cedar or cypress over and oak centerline structure andsteamed oak ribs, fastened with copper clench nails and finished bright. The topside planking was inserviceable condition, as were the keel plank and tow and stern and stem posts and knees except forsome degradation of the keel near the stern post. Ribs were sound except for some degradation at thekeel under the engine. Topside planking is in sound condition. Planking on the bottom (garboard andfirst two broad planks) exhibited some decay at the opening by the device (disappearing propellordevice), severe splitting along the nail lines at the plank laps and splitting of the planks in areas. In theopinion of the undersigned, this vessel is due for replacement of the bottom planking. The remainderof her structure is generally sound.  Single seats forward and aft in the ends of the vessel with two bench seats midships, fixed to risersP&S. Sound and secure with exception of the forward seat in the bow area which exhibited rot and isdue to be replaced.Propulsion:Kermath single cylinder gasoline engine, original with original controls. Marine gear to straight shaftwith Dispro running gear.Fuel Systems: Welded steel tank with painted finish, secured in bow. Copper fuel lines with operableball valve at tank.
