Sold for

The Torquay pottery started in the 1860s in Torquay in the county of Devon.
The Motto ware began production in 1901 when Watcombe Pottery purchased the clay pits.
The red clay is a low earthen ware. Various oxides has been used to paint the design. The motto has been scratched through the oxides to display the clay, and then a clear glaze in applied on top.
This piece is rarer to find as they only did one dimpled lip for every 100 regular pieces. The ship and sunset design are also harder to come by.
This piece was made between 1930 and 1940.

Condition: Generally in good condition, no cracks, or stains. However there are chips on the rim, note images
