Lot #33: 3 Pcs Art inc Don Chase Painting

Three pieces of artwork. A framed Don Chase acrylic on maso signed in silver bottom right. On reverse also signed in marker, titled The Beach and dated 2014. Don Chase is an Ojibway artist, born in Port Hope in 1938. He studied at the Ontario College of Art. In frame measures 25.75 wide x 21.75 high. Marks and scuffs to the wood frame.A framed painting on artist board. No signature, title or date. Appears to be oil of trees with river and bridge. In frame measures 24.75 wide x 20.5 high. Marks and scuffs to the wood frame. The painting sits loosely in the frame and would benefit from a liner or tightening of the nails which secure it in place.The 3rd piece is an unframed image of Lake Louise by J.D.Kelly. When I purchased it, it was being sold as a watercolour which it is NOT. It is some form of photomechanical reproduction using a process that I am quite sure no longer exists. Kelly was born at Gores Landing in 1862 and grew up in Percy Township. He studied at the Ontario School of Art and had a long and full career as a painter and illustrator. His work is included in the collection of the AGO. This image is on paper mounted onto thick cardboard like matte board. I wonder if it was produced for promotional purposes or sold as a tourist souvenir. Measures 21 wide x 15.75 high. The face of the work is protected by a heavy plastic sleeve.Ruler in photos is to provide a sense of scale and is not included. Bring packing material.
