3 very early pieces of flow blue, all with issues, but each still makes handsome shelf decor or floral containers at the very least. The first is a very early Wood Staffordshire sugar bowl in deep flow blue missing its lid. The merit of this piece is both its age (circa 1830) and its historical depiction of Washington at his tomb with scroll in hand. There is a faded newspaper clipping, a hanging price tag as well as a price sticker on base from a former antique dealer. Dont worry, we didnt pay anywhere near the prices noted. The sugar bowl measures approx 7 at widest including handles x 5 tall. Aside from the absence of its lid, there is some staining on the interior, and some age old chips on the interior of the lip where the lid would have clunked around in its day. Understandable for a utilitarian piece of this age.The second piece is a very pretty sugar bowl with its lid. This deep flow blue piece depicts floral embellishments with a central medallion of trees and I think a bird. Only mark is an impressed 18 on base. Measures approx 7 wide including handles x approx 5.75 high to top of finial. The sugar bowl is intact aside from a small rough spot on the interior lip, and a few spots where the glaze has worn or perhaps never adhered. The lid is the primary culprit here with two BIG chunks out of the corner and an obvious break to the top finial with old glue repair visible. The third and final piece in the lot is a dark flow blue creamer with floral decoration. No marks. This early piece measures approximately 6.25 from outside of spout to outside of handle x approx 4.75 tall. Some interior staining and a fleck on edge of base. There is an anomaly on the inside lip of the pouring spout which I think is an original flaw in its making as it is underglaze and has hints of the transfer design (see photo).Note: all 3 pieces in this lot have condition issues as described above. But given their age still merit the attention of a collector or as handsome decorator pieces in the right setting. Bring packing material.
