Joseph Ryan Corish (1909-1988) was born in Somerville, studied at Boston University and Harvard University, and went on to serve as artist in residence at the US Navy First Naval District; as director at the Copley Society, North Shore Arts Association, and the Castle Hill Foundation; and as a guest lecturer at a variety of colleges and institutions. His works have been widely exhibited. Ships--especially ships under sail--and other naval scenes are his focus, with also a substantial number of paintings of scenes from the American west. This painting hung in an exhibition at Harvard's Quincy House, and is signed, with a linen matte and distressed walnut frame. EMU Outdoor furniture

This fine mantel clock is the work of Miroy Freres, a bronze-casting firm specializing in the production of mantel clocks which flourished in mid-19th Century Paris. So many men on horses, racing, running off to war, reining them in - what's it all about? A favorite theme for sculptors for centuries and so much symbolism.  Even the number of hooves the horse has on the ground generated the myth of how the rider eventually died or was wounded.  In any case these clocks tell a great story and have been beloved heirlooms in many estates.  Here, an ornate gilded metal base facade with porcelain inserts encloses the unadorned timepiece (no crystal, no key) and leads up to a majestic scene of a rider struggling with his horse. Stone base (composite?), and statue itself could be a tin base with bronze finish - does not feel or carry like true bronze.  Please note crack on rider's arm. Does not look as if it has been severed or repaired yet but definitely needs attention.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Condition: fair <br>Measurements: Approx: 24&#34;H x 12&#34;W x 5&#34;D

Miroy Freres Neoclassical Gilt Equestrian Clock

Elegant Regency-style chair makes a statement. White embroidered bees buzz in formation over the moire satin upholstery, in a shade of midnight navy blue that appears almost black in our photos. Solid oak frame has slender arms and legs, with motifs carved into the arms which are florals from the front, but transform into stylized fish from the side. Three Wolfard Oil Lamps

<div>Toss the takeout containers and impress your guests with this collection of serving ware. From Wilton Armetale, a round and a rectangular serving platter, each with scallop shell handholds, 14.5" X 13" and 14" X 8.5"; a lettuce-leaf chip and dip set, 11" sq and 5" X 5.5"; and a small lidded box. Timeless design and superlative craftsmanship in this teak ice bucket with inset plastic liner. Designed for Dansk in the 1960s by Jens Harald Quistgaard, and constructed of solid teak. For over 30 years, Quistgaard turned out one iconic design after another of housewares and cookware for Dansk, working in wood, metal, glass, and clay. Today his pieces are seen in many museums in Europe and the US--not to mention in the homes of discerning collectors. This piece is constructed of staved teak, with varying sections highlighting the beauty of the grain. Raised circles decorate each side of this cube, and two concentric circles adorn the lid while also serving as handles.
