Approximately 380,000 II Pluses were sold during its four years in production before being replaced by the Apple IIe in January 1983. The coin was a tribute to Roosevelt&#39;s support of the March of Dimes, an organization that raised funds for polio research. Creating the new design was the responsibility of Chief Engraver John R. Sinnock, who had been in his position since 1925. Much of the work in preparing the new coin was done by Sinnock&#39;s assistant, later chief engraver Gilroy Roberts.
