He was also greatly influenced by the French Impressionist School of Renoir and Degas.Pal Fried widened and enriched his palette while traveling in Spain and Africa, gaining a mastery of light and movement. After returning to Paris, Fried began concentrating on portraiture, in which he became a recognized master.He emigrated to America after World War II and taught at the Academy of Arts in New York before moving to Hollywood, where Pal Fried gained popularity painting high society women and celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and other screen stars.In the European manner, Fried's signature on his paintings was Fried Pal, last name first. William Henry Chandler (1854-1928) was born on June 9, 1854 in New York City. One of seven children born to Mr. &amp; Mrs. Asa Byram Chandler, they lived in Elizabeth NJ, East Orange NJ, and Summit NJ as he was growing up. Born into a deeply religious Christian household, William displayed an interest in art during his youth but had other interests as well. A hunting accident early in his life left him with a lifelong limp. And a strong religious belief remained with him for his entire life.As a young man Chandler moved to Chicago and obtained artistic work as a cameo engraver in a pearl button manufacturing business. While in Chicago he met and married his first wife, Jennie Freeman. Together they had three children (Kathleen, Annabel, and Nellie). Tragedy struck the Chandler household hard as Nellie died when only a few months old. And then Chandlers wife Jennie died shortly thereafter from typhoid fever.    With his wife gone and two remaining children to raise, Chandler returned to northern New Jersey where he lived for the rest of his life and raised his daughters with the help of his sister.The Art of William Henry ChandlerStarting around 1887 Chandler began producing his original art as an alternative to the larger-scale print runs of Currier &amp; Ives, Taber-Prang, and other major print-makers of the time. Chandler operated under the trade name of W.H. Chandler and Co. in New York Citys Lower Manhattan, a business that he ran with his brother, Frank Chandler (1857-1912). William Chandler was responsible for creating the original art while Frank was responsible for the framing, packing, shipping, and at times, for retail and wholesale art sales. I have taught art for the Scarborough Board of Education and Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario and my works are held by collectors both corporate and private around the world.I began painting at the age of 12 after my parents who recognized my talent bought me a set of oil paints and an easel. I was fascinated with perspective and would try to imagine how to draw what I saw and represent it on paper or canvas. On my first painting, my young brother decided to make his mark on my work and proceeded to embellish it with a coat of red paint all over the foreground! I didnt let that stop me and painted over it allowing the red to give accents to my work that otherwise, may not have been there! The principal of my grade school was very impressed with this first work of art, and displayed it proudly in his office for many months.Following my graduation from the Ontario College of Art and Design, I decided that I would like to begin my career as a professional artist. In the fall I would travel around touring Muskoka, Haliburton, Algonquin Park and Killarney, and paint scenes from the back of my 1958 Volkswagen Beetle. I have fond memories of travelling around staying in motels, enjoying the best part of the year painting the glory of the autumn season.  As well as painting from the back of a small car, I also enjoyed painting from the back of my motor boat on Lake Muskoka.
